Vlora is situated in a beautiful location, in the front of the Karaburun peninsula and Sazan island and surrounded by beaches and rocky sand

Exploring Vlora!

Vlore is a harbour city that holds special meaning for Albanians, as this is where the country declared its independence from the Ottoman Empire at the start of the 20th century. So you can take a whistle-stop tour of monuments and museums celebrating the statesman Ismail Qemali’s first government, and in doing so get to know a little more about what it means to be Albanian. If you’d like ideas for days trips the wider region is both untamed and beautiful. Relaxing tourist beaches with clear waters are just a handful of kilometres away, and if you follow the coastal road south there’s a string of charming little resorts punctuated by the vast mountainscapes of the Llogora National Park.

To the north of the city of Vlora lies the lagoon of Narta, which is the second largest lagoon in Albania. This is a very important place for nesting water birds as well as a well-known country in Albania for the production of Nartes craft wine. Near the lagoon, in Zvërnec, is located St. Mary's Monastery. To the south of Vlora bay is the small town of Orikum, near which is a yacht harbor, where up to 650 can be parked. Orikumi is an archaeological park and is one of the most important cities of the ancient world. There you can visit the old Orikum theater with a capacity of 500 seats and the Marmiroti church. Along the road from Vlora to Orikum you will spend small beaches with clean enough waters of Jonufr and Rradhima. An interesting place is also the Archaeological Park of Amantias (near Plloce village) and the stadium of the same name.
