Cash dispensing machines are ubiquitous. Most hotels, restaurants and shops accept credit cards (American Express, Diners Club, Eurocard/Mastercard, Visa) and you can also pay with Euro or Dollar in them. Foreign currency can be exchanged in banks, exchange offices, travel agencies, hotels, cheques can be cashed in banks. Just outside the port area you can easily find banks or exchange offices. (National Bank of Albania is just in front of Port Entrance). In Albania you can easily pay also in Euro or USD.

Distance from the center:
The distance from the Port of Vlora to the center of the city, to Flag Square, is about 2.5 kilometers.
Just have in mind that you already docked on city promenade called Limani and next to you, on you right is the city promenade and the city beach (lungomare), so you are already on the center or on the place where all people visit already, next to you is located also the house of Independence.
After setting foot in Vlora mainland, don’t forget to look back and see in what harbor you have anchored, its shape and beauty. The city starts right away from the port area and you will see that in the exit of the port where some of the best hotels in town are located. Walking along the main boulevard that leads to the center, you will easily mingle with the locals and feel yourself comfortable. While walking (driving) you will see quite some statues and they are of famous Albanian patriots. As you know, the nickname of Vlora is “City of Independence” as the independence was declared here over 100 years before. And the center of the city now is the square where people gathered in 1912 to raise the flag of victory. Along the way, you will also pass by the Muradie Mosque, one of the oldest and most special mosques in Albania.
